Think about Brian's experiences in Hatchet and then in Brian's Winter. What do you think would be the most difficult part of the survival experience? For Brian, he stated in The River that it was hunger. Do you think this would have been the most challenging part or would something else have caused you to struggle more? Tell what would have caused you to struggle the most in the wilderness and describe it's impact on your life.
I think that the most difficult part of survival would be the loneliness. Having no one to talk to or to discuss things with would be very difficult. If I didn't know what to do in a tough situation, talking to someone would help me settle enough to think things thorough. I almost think that I would go crazy wondering about how I was going to make it one more day alone.
I would have to agree with Brian when he said that the most difficult thing when surviving in the wilderness was hunger. It would probably be hard to be in the wilderness starving and not having any food to eat. I don't know if I would be able to survive in the wilderness for so many days without food.
I think that Brian is right because when you are in the wilderness, you really don't have any food supplies. The only way that you can get food is by searching and by hunting. Sometimes people don't know how to hunt so they might starve to death, or they might search everywhere and not find one thing. If i was in the wilderness like he was, i would've never survived.
I would deffinatly agree with both of you. it would be hard to find food. it would be very diffucult to go out there in the wilderness to hunt for food. And wont be abe to stand havin to be alone in the woods with no one to talk to. i would hate that.
I agree with Mrs.Rock and KT loneliness and hunger are both difficult in life. But in the wilderness you would have to deal with it one way or another. So I think the loneliness is the worst because you woudnt talk for how many days and when you do talk to people you wouldnt know what to say.
Brian is right. that would be the biggest struggle. because without food you wouldn't be able to find shelter or any thing. you would not have energy to kill, find food, make things you need or get fire wood
I would have to disagree with Brian's statement and say that the most difficult thing would be all the killer animals. Take for instance the bear attacks and the moose attacks. After that many attacks I would be very afraid to go back to the wilderness. In my opinion hunger would not even be close to a problem when you hear, see, or are being attacked by a killer animal.
I would have to agree with Brian because living without food is very very difficult but he would also have to deal with the challenge of taking care of a man twice his age I don't know what would be harder but i do know that he is going through a lot of difficult things but of them all hunger would be the worst.
i do agree food would probably be the hardest thing about surviving in the woods but there r a lot of other complications WOW brian must have it rough out there
I would agree with Brain because i think it would be very hard to live without food. He also had to hunt to get it and face a moose attack for it so i do think it would be one of the most hardest things to deal with.
I do agree with Brian the hardest thing would be to find food because you need to make weapons and hunt mostly everyday and sometimes you miss so its pretty rough out in the woods.
i agree with Brian that food would would be hard, but i also think that being so lonely would be a problem. I would defenitley not want to be in the middle of the woods like Brian!!
I would have to agree with brian because living with in the wood for 50 day by you self and have nobody to talk to this is what I would have to say about living in the wild.
I think the most difficult thing would have to be the shelter. If its in the winter you have to find a way to keep the cold air out but the warm air in. You also have to find a way to have a fire inside without the smoke filling up to much. Not only that but you also have to make sure no animals can get in because if you have an animal get inside of your shelter it would eat your food and if its a skunk stink up your shelter.
I would have to say that making a fire and finding shelter would have to be the hardest things to do in the wilderness. Finding food would probably be easy. Brian has it pretty easy out there in the woods, except for the part about caring and changing Derek, that's would be very very very gross.
I believe that the hardest part of surviving would be, being surrounded by animals. The reason I say this is because your surrounded by animals that need food that are carnivores also. So it would be hard to get food because an animal could mall you. That's why I think being surrounded by animals would be hard.
I have to say the hardest thing would be not having anyone else around. Knowing I would be alone for what could be many month/years, I would be lonely. I also think if he had not landed by a lake it would have been very hard to survive without water. It would change me in many ways like would be more aware of my surroundings. I would also be very scared to be in a crowd with being away from civilization for a long period of time. It would very difficult without the hatchet Brain had.
I think the most difficult thing would be not knowing what would happen to you. If I was in Brian's situation I would be constantly thinking "am I gonna get saved" or "will anyone ever come for me." That's what the most difficult thing for me would be.
I would also have to agree with Brian, because you need food to live. Also I agree with Brian because food could be very hard to find in the wilderness. Another reason I agree with Brian is because you could be eating food that could harm you and your health. Those are my reason on why food would be the hardest part of survival.
I agree with Brian that hunger was an issue, but I think the problem was adapting to your surroundings. The reason why I think so is because you never know whats going to happen. I mean you could just be sitting there and something could come behind you and attack you. Also I think finding or making shelter would be an issue.
